The Department of Public Administration took part in the UNP MURI Record activity of 17,319 academicians of Padang State University Basongket, which was held in front of the UNP Auditorium, Thursday (14/12/2023).
The initiator of UNP Basongket, Prof. Dra. Asmar Yulastri, M.Pd, Ph.D revealed that songket had been designated by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud) as Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage in 2013. So he continued, this event is a form of UNP's role in maintaining Indonesian culture.
UNP Rector, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D in his speech said that the momentum of UNP Basongket is also related to the 69th UNP Anniversary, the Commemoration of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan RI Day, and the commemoration of Mother's Day on December 22.
On this occasion, UNP and West Sumatra Province also crowned Mufidah Jusuf Kalla as Mrs. Songket of West Sumatra. In her speech, Mufidah Jusuf Kalla revealed that songket is a Minangkabau cultural identity that has been recognized at home and abroad and has a strategic role in the national economy.
